Product Overview

Gel-Pak's family of products utilize proprietary and patented technology to safely hold and immobilize devices by backside surface contact only. This prevents damage that commonly occurs in other device carriers such waffle packs due to contact with the edge and top.

For device shipping and handling applications, the decision regarding which Gel-Pak product to use is dependent upon how the device will be loaded and unloaded from the carrier. (Refer to Load/Unload Table below). For extremely fragile, thin or large devices the VR product should always be used to minimize the required unload force.

It is always recommended that the customer perform an internal evaluation to verify that they have selected the correct Gel-Pak product for their application. Contact the factory or your local Sales Agent for an evaluation sample.

If Gel-Pak does not have a standard product that is right for an application, engineering support is available for customized formulations and new product designs to meet the individual requirements.

Product Categories:

The traditional Gel-Box, Gel-Tray® and Gel-Slide Carriers are perfect for applications where devices are manually offloaded by tweezers or by hand.

Gel-Box (AD Series) - Hinged plastic boxes coated with Gel in the bottom.
Gel-Tray® (BD Series) - A removable 2" plastic tray coated with Gel and contained inside a hinged plastic box.
Gel-Slide (CD series) - A removable 2"glass slide coated with Gel and contained inside a hinged plastic box.

The Vacuum Release Products (VR Series) are designed for use with manual vacuum pick-up tools and full automated Pick & Place or Die Attach equipment.

Patented Vacuum Release® (VR) Trays The trays are available in both standard 2" and 4" s. The products are configured as a plastic VR tray contained in either a hinged plastic box (-02 version) or with a plastic lid (-00B version).
Wafer/Large Substrate VR Carriers are designed for handling valuable substrates/wafers 3® or larger in size. These large format products are a VR plate contained in a hinged box and are available in both single plate and multi-plate configurations depending on the substrate/wafer size.
Nano Device Trays (NDT Series) are 2" carriers designed to handling extremely small devices 12 mils or less in size.

Gel-Film® is an extremely versatile product used to protect and hold devices in a wide range of process steps.

WF Film - Gel bonded to a metalized polyester substrate material.
PF Film -Gel coated to a clear polyester substrate. The Gel material can be peeled off the backing material, otherwise known as "free Gel."
DGL Film - Process B "Free Gel" laminated onto polyethylene substrate

Gel-Pak Accessories are a complete line of products that compliment and support the standard Gel based products such as vacuum release stations, vacuum pumps, pen-vacs, foam inserts, Poron pads, and more.

Custom Packaging Materials and Solutions: Gel-Pak can quickly customize existing packaging and processing products to develop new solutions and materials that meet customers' needs.

General Packaging Products are complimentary carrier products that do not rely on the Gel Technology, such as empty hinged boxes, membrane boxes, waffle packs, etc.
